SEC Football: Georgia, Kentucky rise in Week 3 2022 power rankings
By Matt Melton
10. LSU Tigers
Previous Ranking: 10
LSU bounced back from their season opening loss to Florida State in a big way during Week 2, defeating Southern 65-17 inside Tiger Stadium. A dominant performance from the Tigers, LSU out-gained Southern a combined 550-262 in total yardage in the contest, and even held a 37-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Now sitting at 1-1, LSU is set to open SEC Football play during Week 3 as the Tigers will host Mississippi State in a Saturday night showdown in Baton Rouge. A game that has the potential to be high-scoring, it will be key for LSU to continue their success offensively from Week 2, as well as come to play on defense against one of the SEC’s top passing offenses.
9. Florida Gators
Previous Ranking: 8
The Gators (1-1) drop a spot to No. 9 in this week’s update, coming off their 26-16 loss at home to Kentucky to open SEC Football play. Florida did however get out to an early lead in the contest, but struggled in the second half, as well as a few other areas such as the passing game where Anthony Richardson threw for only 143 yards with two interceptions.
Looking ahead, Florida will host South Florida in a rematch from a year ago where the Gators defeated the Bulls, 42-20. The Gators will once again be a favorite in that matchup, and should have a strong chance to pickup their second win of the season Saturday.
