2. Alabama Crimson Tide

Even despite coming away with the victory, Alabama still drops a spot to No. 2 in this week’s update coming off their 20-19 road win at Texas. A game in which the Crimson Tide struggled on both sides of the ball, Alabama was however able to avoid the upset due to a late drive in the fourth quarter, which resulted in a go-ahead 33-yard field goal by Will Reichard with :10 remaining.

Now 2-0, Alabama will return home in Week 3 where the Crimson Tide will be big favorites over UL-Monroe. With this game being played in Tuscaloosa, Alabama should win this matchup by multiple touchdowns.

1. Georgia Bulldogs

Defending national champion Georgia moves into the top spot of our 2022 SEC Football power rankings entering Week 3, coming off yet another dominant performance where the Bulldogs shutout Samford at home, 33-0. A game in which they led 30-0 at halftime, this was yet another impressive showing from the Georgia defense as they held Samford to only 128 yards of total offense, as well as only 1-of-13 on third downs.

Sitting at 2-0, the Bulldogs are now set to open conference play in Week 3 as Georgia will travel to South Carolina for an SEC East showdown. A game that Georgia should win as well, it will however be interesting to see just how this 2022 Bulldogs team looks Saturday in Columbia in what is their first true road test of the year.
