Texas A&M vs Miami: 2022 SEC Football game preview, TV schedule
TV schedule: ESPN
Game time: September 17th, 2022 at 9:00 P.M
Location: Kyle Field, College Station, TX
Can Texas A&M bounce back after an all-time upset against Appalachian State? Will Miami prove to the college football world that it is on its’ way to being back? We will find out in one of the best matchups of the week when Miami goes to College Station to play Texas A&M.
Texas A&M goes into this game after one of the worst losses in program history. The Aggies lost to Appalachian State in a game people expected them to win handily. In what was expected to be a blowout for Texas A&M turned out to be a defensive battle.
One of the biggest reasons they lost that game was because Appalachian State had the ball for over 2/3 of the game. The pressure is on for Jimbo Fisher and the rest of the Aggies when they face off against the Hurricanes.
The Miami Hurricanes go into this game after winning two tune-up games. While Southern Miss did give the Hurricanes some trouble in the first half, they were able to put them and Bethune away and come out with a 2-0 start to the season.
Tyler Van Dyke is the starting QB for the Hurricanes. Van Dyke has been considered as one of the top QB prospects in this year’s draft. In a class full of top QB prospects, Van Dyke is one of the most highly touted.
While it is clear who will be the QB for the Hurricanes in this game, it is not so clear for the Aggies. Haynes King has struggled through two games to start the season. When asked about whether they will continue to start him or start (current) backup Max Johnson at QB, Fisher said he “possibly could” change starting QB’s this week.
The Hurricanes come into this game with first-year head coach Mario Cristobal. Considering the first two games were tune-up games, this is Cristobal’s real first game against a worthy opponent. Cristobal was coaching the Oregon Ducks for five years before taking on the job at the University of Miami.
Prediction
Miami: 24 Texas A&M: 17
I am very concerned about the Aggies’ offense after last week. Until they prove me wrong, it will be hard to pick them in this matchup knowing the other side has NFL prospect Tyler Van Dyke at QB. I don’t think the Aggies will score enough points to win this matchup. Additionally, I think Texas A&M’s defense will wear down after repeatedly having to get on the field after short drives by the Aggies’ offense.
