Coming off their first loss of the 2022 SEC Football season, Missouri returns home in week three as the Tigers will host Abilene Christian in the first ever meeting between the two schools.

As mentioned previously, Missouri (1-1) fell for the first time a week ago as the Tigers lost on the road against Kansas State, 40-12. A game in which Missouri led only once early in the first quarter, the Tigers struggled with turnovers by throwing four interceptions, as well as defensively where they allowed 235 yards rushing to Kansas State.

Averaging 32 PPG offensively, the Tigers are led by a talented group of receivers on that side of the ball, with Dominic Lovett, Chritauskie Dove, Barrett Banister, and Luther Burden leading the way. Cody Schrader and Nathaniel Peat lead the ground game for the Tigers, while Brady Cook leads the Missouri offense at quarterback, having thrown for a 1:3 TD:INT so far this season.

The Missouri defense has also collected a total of three interceptions so far this season, and are led in tackles by the duo of Joseph Charleston and Ty’ron Hopper. Linebacker Chad Bailey is not far behind those two however, as are Jaylon Carlies and Martez Manuel.

Abilene Christian (2-0) are however coming off their second victory of the season against Prairie View, 21-13. Owning a win so far this season over Lamar as well, this matchup with Missouri is however the first time the Wildcats will travel this season, as well as undoubtedly their toughest matchup of the year.

The Wildcats come into this game averaging 24.5 PPG on offense, a group led by quarterback Maverick McIvor who holds a 4:3 TD:INT on the year. Abilene Christian’s offense also has three receivers who have over 100+ yards receiving across the season’s first two weeks in Kendall Catalon, Kobe Clark, and Tristan Golightly, while Rovaughn Banks Jr is the Wildcats top producer at running back.

Defensively, the Wildcats are led by Tyrin Bradley with a team-high 15 tackles, while Abilene Christian’s pass rush has also had success across their first two games collecting a combined four sacks. Three of the names who have contributed to that group are also among the Wildcats leading tacklers in Jordan Paup, Reese Young, and William Morgan.
