Even despite being in the heart of football season, the news when it comes to the SEC Basketball recruiting trail does not stop. In fact, a Top 100 caliber player in the 2023 class recently released a list of his final three options Tuesday, a list solely comprised of teams from the SEC.
3 SEC Basketball teams included in finalists for four-star C Jordan Butler
A four-star center out of Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, SC, Jordan Butler has released a list of three finalists that includes Auburn, Missouri, and South Carolina.
Butler is currently rated as the No. 103 overall player in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite, as well as among the top 15-20 centers in the country. A seven-foot center, Butler is also considered as the No. 2 player in the state of South Carolina.
When looking at the list of finalists for Butler, the most notable team that likely first catches your eye is South Carolina. Why you ask? Well, it’s quite simple considering that the Gamecocks are essentially the hometown team.
After recently landing five-star prospect GG Jackson, the Gamecocks and new head coach Lamont Paris already hold a commitment from another top in-state name in Arden Conyers, the No. 3 player in the state of South Carolina. Potentially adding Butler would continue the recent in-state success for South Carolina, with the seven-footer instantly becoming the Gamecocks highest-rated 2023 commit.
As for the other two teams, Auburn currently holds only one commitment in their 2023 class, with a potential addition of Butler being the first to the frontcourt. Should he commit, Butler would join four-star guard Aden Holloway in the Tigers 2023 class.
Should he commit to Missouri however, Butler would become the Tigers third four-star prospect in their 2023 class, joining Trent Pierce and Anthony Robinson. Butler would also have a strong chance to contribute for the Tigers in 2023-24, and would help strengthen a Missouri 2023 class that is already one of the best in SEC Basketball.
While unknown when a decision will be made, it appears Butler will end up in the SEC at either Auburn, Missouri, or South Carolina.
