Can Texas A&M continue its winning ways after beating Miami and Arkansas in recent weeks? Will this Mississippi State defense stop Devon Achane and the Aggies’ rushing attack? Can Will Rogers have the big game needed to beat this good Texas A&M defense?

Texas A&M goes into this game with a record of 3-1. A&M are ranked 17th in the AP Poll. Their lone loss has come against App State in one of the biggest upsets in program history. This Texas A&M offense isn’t really good. The Aggies changed QBs already, going from Haynes King to Max Johnson. While Johnson has been a little better for this offense, it primarily is built around Devon Achane.

Achane goes into this game with 355 rushing yards and three rushing TDs. Achane had 159 yards and one rushing touchdown in last week’s victory against Arkansas. Look for Achane to move the chains for the Aggies if they want a chance to score in this game because the passing offense isn’t very good.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs go into this game with a record of 3-1. Their lone loss of the year comes against a good game from Jayden Daniels and the rest of the LSU Tigers. They beat Memphis, Arizona, and Bowling Green. I wouldn’t count out the Bulldogs in the matchup just because they lost their only real opponent.

Texas A&M isn’t a really good offensive team. In fact, I wouldn’t bet this team to score any points this week. Honestly, I don’t understand why people won’t just load the box against them because they don’t have a passing game. The Bulldogs, on the other hand, have a great offense. Will Rogers leads Mississippi State’s offense.

Rogers is currently second in total passing yards from anyone in the country. With playmakers such as Dillon Johnson and Caleb Ducking, this offense is good. However, the battle of this game will come down to the Bulldogs’ offense vs. Texas A&M’s defense. While the Aggies’ defense is excellent, Mississippi State might score enough points for them to come out with an upset.

If Texas A&M doesn’t want this game to be on upset watch, they have to quickly unlock Achane and the rest of this running game. Considering that this Mississippi State defense is pretty solid at defending, they might not be able to do that. The Bulldogs are 8th in rushing defense in the country. While Texas A&M certainly has the reason to win this game, this matchup is on upset watch because of their poor offense.

Prediction: Texas A&M: 21 Mississippi State: 17

I was really tempted to pick Mississippi State here. The Aggies have shown some improvement since their loss to App State, which shows they corrected their issues from that game. While that is true, and the Bulldogs’ offense is pretty good, I will go with the Aggies. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bulldogs won, but I think this A&M defense will buy another victory for this squad.
