12. Missouri Tigers

Previous Ranking: 14

Yes, Missouri did lose during week five to drop their second straight contest, but the Tigers rise two spots in this week’s update due to the fact that they almost secured the biggest upset of the SEC Football season up to this point. Falling to Georgia at home by a final of 26-22, the Tigers did not trail until the 4:03 mark of the fourth quarter, and were led by a special performance from kicker Harrison Mevis who went five-for-five on field goal attempts.

Having now dropped their first two games of SEC Football play, Missouri will travel to Gainesville for a matchup with Florida on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers will likely not be favored, but could be a team to watch for after nearly upsetting Georgia last Saturday.

11. South Carolina Gamecocks

Previous Ranking: 11

South Carolina picked up their second consecutive win last Thursday night as the Gamecocks defeated South Carolina State at home, 50-10. A game in which South Carolina never trailed, the Gamecocks outgained the Bulldogs in total yardage, 404-220, and even held a 22-0 lead entering halftime.

The Gamecocks will resume SEC Football play in week six as South Carolina will travel to Kentucky to face the Wildcats. South Carolina will be looking for their first conference win after an 0-2 start, and will need to play one of their best games of the year in order to leave Lexington win a victory.
