Can Arkansas rebound after two straight losses? Will Mississippi State continue its offensive showcase on its way to a second consecutive win against a top-25 opponent? We’ll find out when the Razorbacks face off against the Bulldogs on Saturday.

Game time: October 8th, 2022 at 12:00 P.M

TV Schedule: ESPN

The Mississippi State Bulldogs go into this game with a record of 4-1. Their lone loss on the season has come against LSU. Mississippi State goes into this week ranked 23rd in the AP Poll.

The Bulldogs’ offense is very electric. It is led by Will Rogers. Rogers is third in the country when it comes to passing yards. He has thrown for 1,715 yards on the season. Additionally, he is tied for the most passing TD’s in the country with 19.

On the season, the Bulldogs’ offense is averaging 346 yards per game. They are one of the best teams in the country when it comes to scoring points. In the passing game, it is mix of guys that are able to connect with Rogers.

Rufus Harvey and Caleb Ducking are the two lead guys with 24 receptions. They both have around 225 yards on the season. Dillion Johnson is a nice safety valve at running back, and has 25 receptions for 150 yards. The Bulldogs offense will defiantly show up against Arkansas.

The Arkansas Razorbacks go into this game with a 3-2 record. They are coming off two straight losses. They lost to Texas A&M in week 4 behind turnover issues and a poor offensive showing.

In week 5, Sam Pittman’s squad lost to Bama because they fell down massively early. The Razorbacks were down 28-0 with 2:51 to go in the second quarter. While the offense did wake up in the second half, it was too little too late as they would lose 49-26. Even worse is that KJ Jefferson would suffer an injury during the loss and might be out for this game.

Currently, Jefferson has yet to practice this week according to Sam Pittman. If this team wants to have any chance to beat the Bulldogs this week, they will need Jefferson to be healthy. The Hogs can’t only depend on the running game in this matchup, even though Raheim Sanders has been pretty great this season. Sanders has the 5th most total rushing yards in the country.

Prediction

Mississippi State: 35  Arkansas: 24

I think the Bulldogs will win this game because of their offense. I do not think Arkansas’s offense will keep up with Rogers and the crew based on their last two games. If Jefferson plays, I would give the Razorbacks a shot but the offense would need to be on fire, and the turnover issues from a couple of weeks ago can’t resurface.
