Taking a look at the entirety of September, there were multiple SEC Basketball teams who added a commitment during the last month. Of that group overall, which teams were the biggest recruiting winners during the month of September? (NOTE: Recruiting rankings courtesy of the 247Sports Composite)

September Commits:

  • 4-star C JP Estrella

Arguably the biggest SEC Basketball recruiting winner during September was Tennessee. Yes, the Volunteers were a notable winner last month with the addition of Freddie Dilione, and Tennessee is once again among the biggest takeaways this month with JP Estrella.

The third commit in Tennessee’s 2023 class, Estrella is rated as a four-star center out of Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. A player who has only continued to rise up recruiting rankings in recent months, Estrella has an exciting skill set for a 6-foot-11 center, one that allows the four-star to make an impact on both ends of the court.

As mentioned previously, Estrella is Tennessee’s third commit in the 2023 cycle, joining both Dilione and three-star Cade Phillips. It certainly appears that the Volunteers will have one of SEC Basketball’s top 2023 recruiting classes, if not contend for the best in the conference overall.
