SEC Football: Tennessee, LSU rise in Week 8 2022 power rankings
By Matt Melton
4. Ole Miss Rebels
Previous Ranking: 4
Remaining in the No. 4 spot, Ole Miss stayed undefeated in week seven as the Rebels picked up a 48-34 win over Auburn on Saturday afternoon in Oxford. A game in which the Rebels never trailed, Ole Miss accounted for 578 yards of total offense, 448 of which came on the ground with a majority coming from the trio of Quinshon Judkins, Zach Evans, and Jaxson Dart.
Looking to remain unbeaten, Ole Miss could now be set for their toughest test yet as the Rebels will travel to Baton Rouge to take on LSU this Saturday afternoon. The Rebels will be looking for their second consecutive win over the Tigers, with LSU having previously won five-straight from 2016-20.
3. Alabama Crimson Tide
Previous Ranking: 1
Falling outside of the top two in our SEC Football power rankings for the first time this season, the Crimson Tide fall to No. 3 coming off their 52-49 loss on the road at Tennessee last Saturday. A game in which Alabama lost on a walk-off field goal, the Crimson Tide were able to erase an early 28-10 deficit, in part due to a big game from the returning Bryce Young, who threw for 455 yards and two touchdowns in the contest.
Coming off the loss, Alabama will return home in week eight for a matchup against Mississippi State, one that the Crimson Tide have owned in recent years. Alabama will likely be big favorites going into Saturday, especially with this game being played in Tuscaloosa.
