8. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Previous Ranking: 6

Dropping two spots this week, Mississippi State dropped their second consecutive game Saturday, falling on the road to Alabama by a final of 30-6. Mississippi State’s lowest point total of the 2022 season so far, the Bulldogs actually outgained Alabama in total yardage 293-290, but were kept off the scoreboard until the very last play of the game.

Mississippi State now enters their bye week with a 5-3 overall record, as well as a 2-3 mark in SEC Football play. The Bulldogs will return to action on November 5 at home against Auburn, a game in which Mississippi State will likely be favored.

7. South Carolina Gamecocks

Previous Ranking: 10

One of SEC Football’s biggest risers of the week, South Carolina jumps three spots up to No. 7 after the Gamecocks defeated Texas A&M, 30-24. The fourth consecutive win for the Gamecocks, South Carolina never trailed to the Aggies, and were able to pull away late with a touchdown run from MarShawn Lloyd at the 3:08 mark in the fourth quarter.

The Gamecocks will remain at home in week nine as well where South Carolina will host Missouri. Likely favorites against the Tigers, this is a game that you could make an argument South Carolina should win by at-least one-to-two touchdowns.
