Auburn vs Arkansas: Line, Prediction, TV Channel & Live Stream for SEC Football
By Matt Melton
The action for SEC Football in week nine will officially begin Saturday afternoon on the Plains as Auburn is set to host Arkansas in a head-to-head matchup that the Tigers have owned in recent years. Looking at that span, the Tigers have won six-straight against Arkansas dating back to 2016, with the Razorbacks last win in Auburn also coming back in 2012.
Beginning with a look at the Tigers, Auburn is coming off their bye week, one that they entered with a 3-4 overall record this season, as well as a 1-3 mark in SEC Football play. Led by head coach Bryan Harsin, this is also Auburn’s sixth home game so far this season, with the Tigers holding a 3-2 record inside Jordan-Hare Stadium during that span.
Auburn also ranks among the bottom of the SEC on offense by averaging 22.3 PPG, a group that is led by quarterback Robby Ashford. Elsewhere on the Tigers offense is the running back duo of Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter who have combined for 10 touchdowns on the ground this season, while Ja’Varrius Johnson, Koy Moore, and John Samuel Shenker are the top receivers.
On defense, the Tigers come into this matchup allowing 28.3 PPG to opponents, a unit that is led by star edge rusher Derick Hall who has 40 tackles, seven TFL, and four sacks so far this season. Colby Wooden is also a top pass rusher for the Tigers alongside Hall, while linebacker Owen Pappoe is Auburn’s top tackler with 57 tackles on the year.
Arkansas on the other hand is also coming off a bye week, with the Razorbacks having previously went on the road to defeat BYU 52-35 in their most recent contest. Sitting at 4-3 on the year, as well as 1-3 in SEC Football play, the 52-point showing was the Razorbacks highest of the 2022 season so far, with the result at BYU having snapped a then three-game losing streak.
On offense, Arkansas comes into this Saturday averaging 32.7 PPG, as well as 240 rushing yards per game. Leading the Razorbacks offense is the QB/RB duo of KJ Jefferson and Raheim Sanders, while others such as Jadon Haselwood, Matt Landers, Ketron Jackson Jr, Trey Knox, and AJ Green are all names to know.
The Razorbacks defense is allowing 32.6 PPG to opponents, and is led by one of SEC Football’s top linebacker duos in Drew Sanders and Bumper Pool. Hudson Clark and Dwight McGlothern are two names to know in the Razorbacks secondary in particular, while the same can be said for Jordan Domineck, Zach Williams, and Landon Jackson along the defensive front.
Auburn vs Arkansas Line, Spread, Over/Under
According to FanDuel, Arkansas was a 3.5-point favorite over Auburn as of Wednesday, with the over/under at 62.5. Arkansas is -162, while Auburn is +134.
Auburn vs Arkansas SEC Football Prediction
While this game should be close being played in Auburn, I’ll say that Arkansas snaps their head-to-head losing streak against the Tigers on Saturday afternoon. The Razorbacks should have success on the ground with both Sanders and Jefferson, with the Arkansas defense also having success against an Auburn passing game that has struggled this season. Prediction: Auburn 21, Arkansas 28
