As LSU Basketball enters a new era during the 2022-23 season, there are only a few players from the roster a year ago that will be taking the court once again this season in Baton Rouge. Among those names is sophomore guard Justice Williams, a player who could be a potential breakout candidate for the Tigers and new head Matt McMahon this season.

LSU Basketball 2022-23 Season Preview: G Justice Williams

One of the biggest names from LSU Basketball’s 2021 recruiting class, Williams joined the Tigers a year ago as a four-star prospect, and would instantly make an impact in Baton Rouge. Primarily a reserve option as a freshman, Williams would appear in 20 games (one start) while averaging 10.6 MPG and 1.7 PPG, while also shooting 83.3% from the free throw line.

While the stat line may not be what Tiger fans expected from Williams in year one, the sophomore guard is however likely to change that in a big way this season as mentioned previously, one that could translate to a breakout 2022-23 campaign in Baton Rouge.

As for what the 2022-23 season could look like for Williams, the former four-star is likely set to begin the year as an option off the bench for the Tigers once again.

A 6-foot-4 guard, Williams is likely LSU Basketball’s backup option at the two, one who could see an extensive amount of time at the position, as well as at the three. Williams could also potentially start games for the Tigers this season as well, but is likely behind both Adam Miller and Mwani Wilkinson on the depth chart.

Overall, expect Williams to certainly post improved numbers in almost every statistical category, and for the sophomore to be a key name to watch for on the LSU Basketball bench.
