Can Will Levis lead the Wildcats to an upset over the Vols? Can the Volunteers continue their unbeaten record behind their electric offense? We will find out when Tennessee takes on Kentucky in a prime-time SEC Football matchup.

Location: Neyland Stadium

Game time: October 29th, 2022 at 7:00 P.M

TV Schedule: ESPN

One of SEC Football’s top teams, the Tennessee Volunteers go into this game undefeated and ranked third in the AP poll. The team is led by an electric offense that has dazzled fans all season behind QB Hendon Hooker. Before last week’s blowout win against tune-up opponent UT Martin, the Volunteers beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in the best game of the year.

Tennessee’s offense has been on fire all year. The Volunteers are averaging 571 yards per game. That is the most in the country. Hooker has led this offense to average 368 yards per game through the air. That is the second most in the country. Finally, the Volunteers average 50 points per game, which is the most in the country.

It is safe to say that Hooker is leading this offense to be a contender for the college football playoff and case for him winning the Heisman. People in Knoxville are thinking of the team making the College Football Playoff for the first time ever, and Tennessee has a good chance to make those thoughts come true.

Kentucky goes into this game 5-2, and ranked 19th in the AP poll. They have lost to South Carolina and Ole Miss. Their best win on the season came against Mississippi State. Will Levis has been looking like an NFL QB this season with his amazing play.

The senior has thrown for 1,635 yards (keep in mind he missed the South Carolina game), which is pretty solid. Levis is joined in the backfield by Chris Rodriguez Jr, who has 395 yards on 72 carries. That is an average of 5.5 yards per game.

For Kentucky, this season has been pretty good. While things weren’t looking amazing two weeks ago, the win against Mississippi State helped their outlook. Before the win, the team was coming off two straight losses.

Will Levis didn’t play in the South Carolina loss, but the outlook wasn’t looking great. South Carolina wasn’t looking amazing at the time but the Gamecocks seem to be trending in the up direction since that game.

If Kentucky wants a chance to win this game, they will need their defense to show up. The Wildcats’ defense allows 185 yards per game. That is 18th in the country when it comes to allowed passing yards. This game will be a good appetizer for Tennessee-Georgia, which will happen the week after.

I think this game will be a battle between Tennessee’s offense and Kentucky’s defense. Although this will be my focus going into this game, if the Wildcats want to win, they will need their offense to show up.

I do think that Kentucky’s defense will have its’ moments against them. Tennessee’s offense will be a lot slower at times but I still expect the best offense in the country to show up.

Prediction: Tennessee 28, Kentucky 17

While I think the Wildcats will be able to put up some points, they will not be able to keep pace with the Volunteers’ offense. Look for Tennessee’s offense to show up and look good before their battle with Georgia next week. While Kentucky is a good football team, I really don’t give the Wildcats a shot to win this game against one of SEC Football’s best.
