With both teams coming off a loss, Texas A&M hosts Ole Miss on Saturday for an intriguing SEC Football showdown.

Game Time: October 29, 2022 at 7:30 P.M
Location: Kyle Field
TV Schedule: SEC Network

This week the Texas A&M Aggies look to take the first step towards saving what little season they have left. Jimbo Fisher and company started the season with hopes of challenging Alabama for the SEC West to now just trying to be bowl eligible. They will take on the Rebels of Ole Miss this Saturday at Kyle Field.

The Rebels are coming off an upset loss to LSU last week. Coach Kiffin looks to get his team back on track as they are still in control of their own destiny if they want to make it to Atlanta at the end of the season. First they will have to take care of business on the road against the Aggies.

If A&M hopes to have success against Ole Miss they will have to try to shutdown their high-powered offense which is averaging 38.3 points per game. The Rebels have shown the ability to run and pass the ball this season. The Aggies will also have to score more than their 21.9 points per game if they expect to beat the Rebels.

The main problem for A&M will be stopping the Rebels three headed monster on the ground.  Running backs Quinshon Judkins and Zach Evans have over 1,400 yards combined on the ground.  Quarterback Jaxson Dart is also chipping in 378 yards rushing this season for the Rebels.

If the Rebels can keep the Aggies running game under wraps, they have a good chance of taking a win on the road. They will have to overcome the “12th Man”, which should be rowdy for the primetime game. If Ole Miss gets on the Aggies early and can establish a big lead early, it will be hard for A&M to make a comeback.

What’s Ahead for Both Teams

For Texas A&M sitting at 3-4 if they lose again, more people might start questioning if Jimbo Fisher is still the right man for the job. Now after this game, their schedule does a get a little lighter until the last game of the season against LSU on November 26th. With the trends of coaches getting fired in Power 5 conferences, Jimbo might be very well coaching for his job for the rest of the season.

Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss still have a shot at the SEC Football Title and an outside chance at the College Football Playoff.  It all starts here with Texas A&M and then the Rebels will have to run the table. They get a week to rest before facing Alabama on November 12th.  Now they will need LSU to lose if they want to go to the SEC title game. If the Tigers don’t lose, and Ole Miss is still standing as a one loss SEC Football team, they still can have an outside chance at the playoff.
