Deion Sanders

If there is one name around college football that seems to be at the center of almost every major coaching search at the moment, it’s Sanders. Well, expect Sanders to be a name to watch for in the Auburn Football opening as well.

Currently in his third season as the head coach at Jackson State, Sanders has helped lead the Tigers to an undefeated 8-0 start this year, as well as a No. 5 ranking in the latest FCS Coaches Poll. This is also coming off a season in which the Tigers had an 11-win season a year ago, with Jackson State also winning the SWAC championship in year two under Sanders where he has compiled a 23-5 record so far.

While Sanders may lack the amount of collegiate coaching experience compared to other names on this list, it still feels likely that the former Florida State standout gets a Power 5 job at some point in the near future. Auburn could be a legit possibility in that conversation alongside other programs such as Georgia Tech, with Sanders having already shown that he can recruit at an elite level by having landed the No. 1 overall player in the 2022 class, Travis Hunter.

Simply put, Sanders will be a name thrown around the college football coaching world often in the next couple of weeks. Yes, Sanders will obviously be linked to multiple jobs this offseason, a list that should include Auburn Football.
