2. Tennessee Volunteers

Previous Ranking: 2

Despite remaining at No. 2 in this week’s SEC Football power rankings, Tennessee made a strong case for the top spot this past Saturday with one of the conference’s more impressive victories, beating Kentucky by a final of 44-6 to remain unbeaten. A dominant performance, the Volunteers outgained Kentucky 422-205 in total yardage, and even entered halftime with a commanding 27-6 lead.

The Volunteers will now turn their attention to a massive Week 10 showdown with Georgia in Athens, one in which Tennessee will likely not be favored. This is undoubtedly the biggest game of the college football slate this Saturday, one that will decide the No. 1 ranking in next week’s update of our power rankings.

1. Georgia Bulldogs

Previous Ranking: 1

Georgia holds onto the No. 1 ranking this week after their 42-20 win over rival Florida, a game in which the Bulldogs never trailed. Also remaining unbeaten, the Bulldogs got out to a 28-3 lead going into halftime, and even despite a third quarter Florida run, as well as committing three turnovers, Georgia was able to secure the win late with two scores.

Next up for the top ranked Bulldogs is the previously mentioned showdown with Tennessee, one that features SEC Football’s last two unbeaten teams. Georgia is likely the favorite going into this contest, but this will likely be the Bulldogs toughest test yet, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
