13. Georgia Bulldogs

Coming off one of their worst single seasons in program history, Georgia begins the Mike White era ranked as the No. 13 team in our 2022-23 SEC Basketball power rankings.

In what was year four of the Tom Crean era in Athens, Georgia finished with a 6-26 overall record a year ago, as well as a 1-17 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs lone win in SEC play was the fewest since the 1955-56 season where they won the same amount, with the six-win total also being the fewest since the 1973-74 campaign where Georgia went 6-20.

However, as mentioned previously, Georgia enters a new era in 2022-23 as former Florida head coach Mike White takes over in Athens, coming off a successful tenure in Gainesville. With the start of the White era also comes excitement as the Bulldogs enter the year with a talented and arguably deeper roster than last season, one that returns their top two scorers in Kario Oquendo and Braelan Bridges.

The Bulldogs have also added multiple impact transfers to the mix this season, a list that includes names such as Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe, Justin Hill, Terry Roberts, and Frank Anselem. Jabri Abdur-Rahim is also a key name who returns for Georgia this season, as is Jaxon Etter, a guard who started in 22-of-31 games a year ago.

Overall, Georgia should certainly be improved this season, with their multiple transfer additions as a big reason why. No, they likely aren’t an NCAA Tournament team in year one under White, but you should expect the Bulldogs to show notable improvement this season, with Georgia potentially setting themselves up to return to the Big Dance in the next couple of years.
