11. Missouri Tigers

Entering a new era in Columbia under head coach Dennis Gates, Missouri begins the 2022-23 season ranked at the No. 11 team in our 2022-23 SEC Basketball power rankings.

After making the NCAA Tournament during the 2020-21 season, Missouri had a down 2021-22 campaign, finishing with a 12-21 overall record, as well as a 5-13 mark in SEC play. In what was the fifth season under former head coach Cuonzo Martin, the Tigers 12-win total was also the lowest since the 2017-18 season (8-24).

As for if the Tigers can bounce back in year one of the Gates era, well, it is certainly a possibility, as the Tigers return one of the SEC’s top forwards from a year ago in Kobe Brown, as well as another notable name in Ronnie DeGray III.

The Tigers have also added numerous transfers who should make an impact this season, a group that includes DeAndre Gholston, Nick Honor, and Noah Carter. Missouri also added an impact freshman in forward Aidan Shaw, who could play a key role on the wing for the Tigers during year one in Columbia.

Tasked with replacing a notable amount of production, the Tigers will certainly look different in 2022-23 compared to a year ago. Even despite that, Missouri should be improved however, but not to the point where the Tigers will make the NCAA Tournament.
