7. Texas A&M Aggies

Coming off an exciting run to conclude last season, head coach Buzz Williams and the Texas A&M Aggies begin the season ranked as the No. 7 team in our SEC Basketball power rankings.

As mentioned previously, Texas A&M went on a deep run through the NIT to conclude last season, finishing the year with a 27-13 overall record, as well as a 9-9 mark in SEC play. The Aggies highest win total since the 2015-16 campaign, this was undoubtedly Texas A&M’s best single season in recent years in what was also year three of the Williams era.

Looking ahead as well, there is reason to believe that the Aggies can continue that impressive run late last season into 2022-23 as many of the top names from that same team return. Included in that group are players such as Henry Coleman III, Tyrece Radford, Wade Taylor IV, Andre Gordon, and Manny Obaseki.

In addition to that group, the Aggies have also added a few transfers and freshmen that could all make an impact this season, a group that includes Dexter Dennis, Khalen Robinson, and Andersson Garcia.

With many of the top names from last year returning this season, there is reason to believe that Texas A&M will take that next step this season, and reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2017-18 season. Expect the Aggies to do just that, while also finishing among the top half of the SEC this season.
