The Auburn Tigers were able to bring a little light to their disappointing season with a 13-10 home win over Texas A&M Football. The win was the first for interim head coach Carnell (Cadillac) Williams who is a alum and former star at Auburn. The game was a gritty and hard-fought contest.  This stopped a 5 game slide for Auburn and makes them 2-5 in the SEC.

Auburn was able to win the game despite committing 3 turnovers against the Aggies. The Tigers relied on stifling defense and a strong running game to put them over for the win. Running backs Jarquez Hunter and Tank Bigsby both provided 121 rushing yards each for Auburn.

There were not a lot of points scored by either team. Auburn scored the first points of the game when quarterback Robby Ashford found Ja’Varrius Johnson for a 16 yard touchdown with 1:33 left in the first quarter. This allowed Auburn to carry a 7-0 lead into halftime.

The Tigers on their home field did not give up much to the Aggies and were up 10-0 going into the 4th quarter. A&M was able to mount a comeback in the last period and was able to bring the game within 3, but could not get into position to even tie the game with Auburn.

The Tigers defense held the Aggies in check all game. The only bright spot for A&M offensively was Amari Daniels’ 83 yards on 11 carries. The team leaned more on their passing attack which only provided them 121 yards, despite Conner Weigman throwing the ball 36 times and only completing 14 passes.

Auburn now improves to 4-6 on the season and still has a shot at being bowl eligible if they can win their next two games. For the Aggies, things have gone from bad to worse as they are now 3-7 and cannot finish above .500 for the season. They are 1-6 in the SEC and have lost 6 straight this season.

Next up for the Tigers will be a home game against Western Kentucky on November 19th that will be broadcast on the SEC Network. Coach Williams will get another chance to motivate his team as he is auditioning for the full time head coaching spot.

Next. Georgia, Florida among October recruiting winners. dark

Texas A&M Football will host UMass on November 19th as they look to get their first win since September. Jimbo Fisher and company will try to make the most of what has turned into a lost season.
