Georgia Football beat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 37-14. Despite the score, this was a very disappointing result for the Bulldogs. Georgia Tech was leading after the first quarter and was only down by 6 points at halftime. Considering the Yellow Jackets aren’t even bowl-eligible, this was very discouraging for a team with championship aspirations.

Kenny McIntosh ended up with 86 rushing yards on 12 carries. Stetson Bennett threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns. On the other side, Zack Gibson threw for 191 yards on 19 completions.

The game started out with a touchdown for Georgia Tech behind an eleven-play drive that was carried by the Yellow Jackets’ rushing attack. Georgia had to punt the ball after three plays as the offense struggled on their first drive.

The Yellow Jackets returned the favor after one first down, having to punt the ball. Georgia’s offense got working finally behind Kenny Mcintosh’s legs and Stetson Bennett’s arm. As they have all season, they struggled in the red zone and had to settle for three.

The score was 7-3 Georgia Tech, and once again the Bulldogs were playing down to their opponent again. Georgia Tech had to punt the ball after one first down on their next drive. The offense for Georgia finally got working behind the rushing attack. They finished the drive this time with a touchdown behind a Stetson Bennett 5-yard connection to Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint.

Three more punts happened between both teams for the rest of the first half, as no offense could get going for the rest of the beginning half. The score was 10-7, Georgia going into the second half.

Georgia started off the second half with a nice drive led by the rushing attack. They struggled behind penalties and couldn’t get into the red zone, settling for three. Georgia Tech was unable to get anything going on three plays and decided to go for it. They handed the ball to David Shanahan and the Bulldogs stuffed him way behind the line of scrimmage.

Georgia used the short field position to score a touchdown to make it a 20-7 game. Georgia Tech would fumble the ball on their first offensive snap of the next drive, giving the Bulldogs good field position once again. They had troubles in the red zone and had to settle for three. Georgia Tech couldn’t get anything after one first down due to two straight incompletions from Zach Gibson.

They had to punt, and Georgia used a final touchdown drive to put the game away in the beginning moments of the fourth quarter. The score was 30-7 after the touchdown, it would be 37-14 at the end and Georgia would be undefeated in the regular season for the second straight season.

Georgia Football defeats Georgia Tech, 37-14

Once again, Georgia played down to an interior opponent. They struggled in the red zone among other issues. This has been an issue all season. As proven when they played Tennessee, the Bulldogs don’t have this issue when they play an opponent worthy of their talents.

Still, the question is up in the air of sloppy play is there when you allow Georgia Tech to be up 7-0 in the first and only be down 13-7 at the half. With the regular season they had, and with how the other games played out, Georgia Football has already secured a spot in the playoff. They will be playing for the first seed in the college football playoff when they face off against LSU in the SEC championship game.

Still, if the Bulldogs didn’t struggle against underwhelming opponents this season, I would have them as the unquestioned favorite for winning the title this season. Although they are still my favorite to win back-to-back titles, their games against mediocre opponents have shown me cracks in the armor.
