The Texas A&M Aggies beat the LSU Tigers, 38-23. Devon Achane went for 215 yards on 38 carries. Additionally, he ran for two touchdowns. The running back wasn’t expected to play going into this matchup, as he was recovering from injury and Texas A&M Football couldn’t even qualify for a bowl game.

Still, Achane went out there and had an amazing game that helped the Aggies win among good performances by the defense and Moose Muhammad.

The game started out with a punt from LSU after one first down from the Tigers’ offense. On the opening drive from A&M, Achane started out his amazing day by leading the Aggies to six. LSU would respond to their score with Jaylen Daniels’ legs and arm.

A&M’s offense would continue to be uncharacteristic behind the running game, as they would get down the field during their next drive. They struggled through the air at the goal-line and couldn’t find the endzone, settling for three.

Daniels used his arm to get the ball down the field as a response. They struggled in the red zone and had to settle for three. Achane didn’t keep this game tied for more than one possession though, as he led the Aggies to the goal-line. Conner Weigman finished off the drive by throwing a pass to Donovan Green for a TD.

LSU couldn’t keep this game tied, as they had to punt after six plays. Going into the half, the Aggies would be up 17-10. This was widely unexpected as the Tigers had a chance to the playoff (albeit they weren’t gonna beat Georgia, especially now after the result of this one), and A&M doesn’t have enough wins to bowl eligible this season.

Coming out of the half, Texas A&M Football’s offense would go back to the way they played all season, and punt the ball after three plays and one yard. LSU would use this to tie the game behind the show of Jayden Daniels and John Emery Jr.

After the Tigers tied this game with a touchdown, A&M continued to show that their offensive woes weren’t behind them, as they went three and out. The defense picked up for the Aggies’ offense, as they took advantage of Jaylin Daniels’ fumble for a scoop and score.

LSU continued their offensive woes, as they only got two first downs and had to punt on their next drive. They had to punt on fourth down because third down was virtually impossible as LSU was called for offensive holding.

After the punt, Amari Daniels and Devon Achane used their legs to lead the Aggies to get into the red zone. Moose Muhammad had a one-handed amazing catch for the touchdown. Going into the fourth quarter, Texas A&M was up by 14 against the Tigers; I don’t think anyone could have predicted this. LSU would punt the ball away on their next drive after another three and out.

Devon Achane went to work again and allowed the Aggies to build a 38-17 lead with 7 minutes to play. Sensing the urgency, the Tigers went to work scoring a TD within 2 minutes behind Daniels. A&M went back to their own offensive woes and had to punt after three plays, allowing LSU to have the smallest chance with 4 minutes left.

LSU would be able to drive the ball down the field until they threw three straight incompletions and turned the ball over on downs. With the Aggies having the ball, the lead, and 2 minutes left to play, the game was completely over. This win for Texas A&M Football happened because of the rushing attack, defense, and key passes from Conner Weigman to Moose Muhammed.

Texas A&M Football upsets LSU

This loss ended LSU’s chances to get into the playoff. While the college football teams’ resumes have collectively gotten worse in recent weeks, the Tigers would need a lot of help during championship Sunday, plus a win over Georgia, and the college football committee favoring them as well.

Obviously, this isn’t really likely. Therefore, they are eliminated from the playoff. After this loss, I don’t really expect them to beat Georgia next week in the SEC championship.

LSU is going end up with an SEC West title, a 9-win season (before bowl season), and a win over Alabama. If you told me that would be the season they had before the season, that would have been a great season. If you told me LSU would end up with the achievements they had this season after the loss to Florida State, I would have told you were crazy.

Still, until this game, they had a shot at the playoff. Yes, it did require them to beat the best team in the country but the Tigers were only one of the teams in the country that had a path to the playoff. That ended after allowing over 270 rushing yards and having a costly turnover in the third quarter among other things.

Texas A&M Football’s offense was horrible this season. While I do not want to say that after a victory like this, I must say this beforehand. The rushing attack led by Devon Achane was the only positive that this offense had all season.

Next. Florida State beats Florida in offensive showdown. dark

The Aggies aren’t going to go to a bowl game this season and the offense is the reason for it, but the rushing attack from the Aggies was the only strength they had all year and one of the major reasons they pulled off this upset.
