Where Are They Now? 2015 Alabama Football Coaching Staff

Looking back at the 2015 season, not only did national champion Alabama football have one of the nation’s most talented teams, but also one of the greatest, and most memorable, coaching staff’s the sport of college football has ever seen.

With almost all of the names from that 2015 Alabama coaching staff having gone on to become head coaches at the collegiate level since as well, why not take a look at where some of the biggest names from that 2015 national title winning staff are now?

Where Are They Now? 2015 Alabama Football Coaching Staff

Nick Saban (Head Coach)

The head coach of Alabama football’s 2015 national title winning team, that season marked the fourth national title for Saban at the helm of the Crimson Tide program at the time. Saban is still the head coach at Alabama, having won six national titles since coming to Tuscaloosa in 2007.

Kirby Smart (Defensive Coordinator)

One of the more well known assistants from that 2015 Alabama team was Smart, who served as the defensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide from 2008-15. Smart has been the head coach at Georgia since 2016, and most recently won a national title with the Bulldogs in 2021.

Lane Kiffin (Offensive Coordinator)

Kiffin was the offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide from 2014-16, and would become the head coach at Florida Atlantic from 2017-19. Kiffin has since been the head coach at Ole Miss since 2020.

Mario Cristobal (Offensive Line)

Cristobal was the offensive line coach for the Crimson Tide from 2013-16, prior to departing for Oregon where he served as the Ducks head coach from 2018-21. Cristobal is currently in his first season as the head coach at Miami.

Mel Tucker (Defensive Backs)

Tucker would spend only one season at Alabama, which came in 2015 as the Crimson Tide’s defensive backs coach. Tucker has since spent time at Georgia in the same role, as well as the head coach at Colorado in 2019, and is currently the head coach at Michigan State where he has been since 2020.

Billy Napier (Wide Receivers)

After being an analyst in 2011, Napier served as Alabama’s wide receivers coach from 2013-16 prior to spending 2017 at Arizona State, as well as Louisiana from 2018-21 where he was the head coach of the Ragin’ Cajuns. Napier is currently in his first season as the head coach at Florida.

Dan Lanning (Graduate Assistant)

Lanning would spent only one season at Alabama in 2015 as a graduate assistant prior to joining Memphis and Georgia from 2016-17 and 2018-21, respectively. Lanning is currently in his first season as the head coach at Oregon.

Tosh Lupoi (Linebackers)

Lupoi would spent from 2014-18 at Alabama prior to spending time in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, and Jacksonville Jaguars from 2019-21. Lupoi is currently in his first season at Oregon where he is the Ducks defensive coordinator.
