Alabama vs Gonzaga: Line, Prediction, TV Channel & Live Stream for 2022 C.M. Newton Classic

A high-profile rematch from just last season, Alabama and Gonzaga are set to collide Saturday in Birmingham, AL for the 2022 C.M. Newton Classic. The Crimson Tide previously defeated Gonzaga a year ago in Seattle by a final of 91-82 in what was the first-ever meeting between the two on the hardwood.
As for this season, Alabama comes into Saturday ranked as the No. 4 team in the country, holding a 9-1 overall record. Averaging 83 PPG while allowing 70.1 PPG to opponents, the Crimson Tide also currently own a four-game winning streak, one that includes wins over North Carolina, South Dakota State, Houston, and Memphis.
The Crimson Tide are led by the duo of Brandon Miller and Mark Sears, both of which are 40+% shooters from three-point range who combine to average 33.3 PPG. Noah Clowney and Jaden Bradley have also been among the top freshmen in the SEC this season, while Jahvon Quinerly, Charles Bediako, Noah Gurley, and Darius Miles are the lone returning names who played in this game a year ago.
Gonzaga however enters Saturday ranked as the No. 15 team in the country by owning an 8-3 record, one that includes losses to Texas, Purdue, and Baylor. The Bulldogs also average 80.6 PPG while allowing 72.2 PPG to opponents, and come into this game shooting a noteworthy 49.2% from the field as a team.
The Bulldogs are led by one of the nation’s top frontcourt players Drew Timme, who averages 20.5 PPG and 7.9 RPG, with both Julian Strawther and Rasir Bolton also averaging in double-figures. Anton Watson is also a prominent name in the Gonzaga frontcourt, while the same can be said for guards Nolan Hickman, Malachi Smith, and Hunter Sallis in the backcourt.
Alabama vs Gonzaga 2022 C.M. Newton Classic Prediction
Even with this contest essentially being an Alabama home game in Birmingham, Gonzaga is a team that is certainly good enough to come across the country and beat the Crimson Tide in a tough road environment. Expect this contest to be close throughout, but I have Alabama pulling away late to win by a small margin. Prediction: Alabama 76, Gonzaga 72
