SEC Football Recruiting: 6 decisions to watch for during 2022 Early Signing Period

When the 2022 Early Signing Period opens this upcoming Wednesday, there will be a few of the nation’s top uncommitted prospects who will be making decisions from lists of finalists that include SEC teams. As for which names to watch for in particular, here are six of the biggest SEC football recruiting decisions to be made during the 2022 Early Signing Period.

James Smith
A five-star prospect out of Carver-Montgomery High School in Alabama, Smith is the nation’s top uncommitted defensive lineman going into Wednesday. Smith will be making a decision between the following list of finalists: Alabama, Alabama State, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Ohio State.
Qua Russaw
A teammate of Smith at Carver-Montgomery High School in Alabama, Russaw will also be making his decision from the same list of finalists: Alabama, Alabama State, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Ohio State. Russaw is rated as a five-star, and is one of the more versatile linebackers in the 2023 class.
Damon Wilson
A five-star edge rusher out of Venice High School in Florida, Wilson is another top edge rusher who is still currently uncommitted. Wilson will be making his decision between the following schools: Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, and Texas.
Nyckoles Harbor
Considered as the nation’s top ATH, Harbor is a five-star prospect out Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington DC. Multiple schools are in the mix for Harbor’s commitment, a list that includes Maryland, Michigan, and South Carolina.
Desmond Ricks
Ricks, a five-star who reclassified from the 2024 class, is the highest-rated cornerback remaining in the 2023 class. Attending IMG Academy in Florida, Ricks will be making a decision between an all SEC list of finalists in Alabama, Florida, and LSU.
Jordan Hall
Similar to Smith previously, Hall is one of the top uncommitted defensive linemen to watch for next week. A four-star prospect out of Westside High School in Florida, Hall will also be making a decision between an all SEC list of finalists that includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and LSU.
