One of the nation’s top 2023 recruits, Kadyn Proctor has been an often talked about name among Alabama football fans in recent days as a potential name to watch for on flip watch ahead of this week’s 2022 Early Signing Period.
Well, that flip watch has now become reality as Proctor has officially flipped to commitment to the Crimson Tide from Iowa, where he was not only the Hawkeyes top commit in the 2023 class, but also one of the highest-rated players to ever commit to the program.
5-star Iowa commit Kadyn Proctor flips to Alabama Football
Rated as a five-star offensive tackle, Proctor was an in-state product for the Hawkeyes out of Southeast Polk High School in Iowa, one who is also considered as the No. 12 overall player in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite. Proctor had also recently been committed to Iowa since June of 2022.
Now joining Alabama football’s top ranked 2023 class, Proctor is the Crimson Tide’s fourth five-star addition this cycle, joining safety Caleb Downs, edge rusher Keon Keeley, and running back Justice Haynes.
Proctor is also Alabama’s fifth, and highest-rated, addition along the offensive line, with the five-star joining four-star’s Wilkin Formby, Olaus Alinen, Miles McVay, and RyQueze McElderry.
At 6-foot-7, 330 pounds, Proctor now has the potential to make an impact from day one with the Crimson Tide as a freshman. What sort of role that will be is obviously to be determined, but when looking back at recent years, multiple five-star offensive linemen that the Crimson Tide have landed such as Alex Leatherwood, Evan Neal, and JC Latham each saw the field during their first season in Tuscaloosa, with Proctor potentially next in that group.
Regardless of whether the five-star starts or not in 2023, the addition of Proctor is undoubtedly a big one for Alabama. Is he the biggest Early Signing Period surprise for Alabama, or is there more to come for the Crimson Tide?
