SEC Football: Grading my 2022 preseason predictions
At the beginning of the SEC football season, it seems like everybody thinks that they know what is going to happen. As fans, and writers, we put our knowledge on the line but usually get a reality check once the games begin.
That is certainly the case for myself as I looked back at my preseason predictions.
As I was reviewing, I thought it would be fun to grade my thoughts and whether I was even close to reality.
So that’s what I did. I looked at each prediction, giving points for being correct on awards, coaching status, and finish.
But most importantly, I gave the most weight to whether I was on the right side of history.
Now, a little bit of housekeeping before I continue:
Grading 2022 SEC Football preseason predictions
I am the student and the grader. I recognize that this is corrupt format but am choosing to ignore it for this exercise.
Before I look back on some of my terrible takes, I must toot my own horn by mentioning my week 1 record from when I picked each opening matchup.
My record was 13-2. And yes, I know it wasn’t that difficult with FCS gimme’s, but I’ll take it.
Other Notes:
Preseason predictions are in bold. Reflections are in regular font.
My preseason blurbs/predictions were made at a different time than my awards/division predictions. That’s why some don’t necessarily align like I would have liked, but here we are.
This reflection is also being made during bowl season so it won’t include review of the bowl games and will instead focus mainly on regular season results.
Final GPA: 2.57
