Georgia (1st in the East, SECCG loser, bowl-eligible)

Evaluation: Georgia, despite slow starts that plagued them early in the season, is clearly the best team in the nation going into the playoff. Or that’s at least what they’ve showed so far in the regular season. And that’s truly astounding considering how much talent they lost to the NFL Draft.

I underestimated Stetson Bennett and company, and perhaps overstated how much high-end SEC football competition there actually was. Their games against Mississippi State and Kentucky weren’t really that close and their only ‘almost-hiccup’ was to Missouri in September.

At the very least, I predicted them to win their division, which they did, and I didn’t have some hot take that was way off the mark.

Grade: B+
