Ole Miss vs Texas Tech: Line, Prediction, TV Channel & Live Stream for 2022 Texas Bowl

In what is the first meeting between the two since 2018, Ole Miss and Texas Tech are set to face off Wednesday night in the 2022 TaxAct Texas Bowl. The Rebels and Red Raiders have previously faced off six times before, with Ole Miss owning a 4-2 all-time advantage, as well as having won the last two games in 2009 and 2018.
The Rebels, led by head coach Lane Kiffin, come into this year’s contest with an 8-4 overall record, one that also included a 4-4 mark in SEC play. This is also Ole Miss’ third bowl appearance under Kiffin in as many years, with the Rebels however struggling entering Wednesday by having lost three-straight to Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi State, as well as four of their last five.
Averaging 34.2 PPG to rank No. 28 nationally, the Rebels are led by one of the SEC’s top rushing trio’s that includes running backs Quinshon Judkins and Zach Evans, as well as quarterback Jaxson Dart. Judkins, a freshman, led the SEC with 1,476 rushing yards this season, and will certainly play a key role in this contest, as will receivers Malik Heath, Jonathon Mingo, and Jordan Watkins.
The Rebels defense ranks No. 51 nationally with an average of 24.2 PPG allowed to opponents, a group led by the duo of Troy Brown and Otis Reese, both of which have 80+ tackles this season. Ole Miss also has multiple impact pass rushers such as Tavius Robinson, Jared Ivey, and Khari Coleman, along with Tysheem Johnson and AJ Finley among the additional names to know.
Texas Tech is coming off a 7-5 regular season in year one under head coach Joey McGuire, with the Red Raiders also owning a 5-4 mark in Big 12 play this year. The Red Raiders, who originally began the year 4-5, are currently on a three-game winning streak that allowed Texas Tech to become bowl eligible, with wins over Kansas, Iowa State, and Oklahoma included in that stretch.
The Red Raiders offense, which ranks No. 31 nationally with an average of 33.6 PPG, has used three different quarterbacks this season in Donovan Smith, Behren Morton, and Tyler Shough, and has averaged 310.3 passing yards per game up to this point. Tahj Brooks and SaRodorick Thompson are Texas Tech’s top two rushers, while Jerand Bradley, Xavier White, Myles Price, Nehemiah Martinez, Loic Fournji, and Trey Cleveland each have 300+ yards receiving this season.
Defensively, Texas Tech ranks No. 98 nationally with an average of 29.5 PPG allowed, led by one of the Big 12’s top tacklers in linebacker Krishon Merriweather. Kosi Eldridge is also a prominent tackler for the Red Raiders, while others such as Tyree Wilson, Marquis Waters, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, and Reggie Pearson Jr. are also names to know.

According to FanDuel, Ole Miss is a 3.5-point favorite over Texas Tech as of Tuesday, with the over/under at 71.5. The Rebels are -176, while the Red Raiders are +146.
