SEC Basketball: Texas A&M, Auburn among biggest December recruiting winners
By Matt Melton
Compared to recent months, December was not necessarily as active a month on the SEC basketball recruiting trail, with only two of the conference’s 14 teams landing a commitment – Texas A&M and Auburn. Taking a look at those two teams, here is a look at who both the Aggies and Tigers added during December, with both commitments coming to each’s respective 2024 class. Texas A&M, Auburn among SEC basketball December recruiting winners
Texas A&M Aggies
December Commits:
- 4-star SF Rob Dockery
Beginning with the Aggies, Texas A&M landed the first commitment of their 2024 class during December in Rob Dockery, a four-star out of Jackson-Reed High School where he is among the top players in Washington DC. Dockery, a 6-foot-7 forward, is one of the highest-rated players to commit to Texas A&M since Buzz Williams took over in College Station, and is likely a day one impact player, and maybe even starter, once in College Station.
With the addition of Dockery, Texas A&M’s 2024 class now currently ranks No. 1 in the SEC, but as you likely know, it is still early in the 2024 recruiting cycle. In fact, aside from the Aggies, only two other SEC basketball programs hold a 2024 commitment – Auburn and Vanderbilt.
Auburn Tigers
December Commits:
- 4-star C Peyton Marshall
Speaking of the Tigers, Auburn and head coach Bruce Pearl also added the first commitment of their 2024 class during December in Peyton Marshall, a four-star out of Kell High School in Georgia. A 7-foot center that could easily, and likely will, make an impact as a freshman, Marshall is next in line of players that the Tigers have landed from Georgia in recent years, joining others such as Jabari Smith, Sharife Cooper, Issac Okoro, JT Thor, Dylan Cardwell, Jaylin Williams, and more.
