A month that included the Early Signing Period, December was undoubtedly the biggest recruiting month of the year for SEC football. December Commits:

  • 5-star EDGE Keon Keeley
  • 5-star OT Kadyn Proctor
  • 5-star DL James Smith
  • 5-star LB Qua Russaw
  • 5-star CB Desmond Ricks
  • 4-star LB Sterling Dixon

Beginning with Alabama, it’s hard to imagine a bigger recruiting winner during December from SEC football than the Crimson Tide. That is because Alabama landed a total of six commitments during the month, five of which came to what was already the nation’s top ranked 2023 class entering December.

The first of those five five-star commitments came from Keon Keeley out of Berkeley Prep in Florida, who is arguably the top edge rusher in the 2023 class. Alabama then landed a commitment about a week later as Kadyn Proctor flipped to the Crimson Tide from Iowa, with the five-star arguably the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2023 class out of Southeast Polk in Iowa.

Alabama then added three more five-star’s during the Early Signing Period on the defensive side of the ball, with the Crimson Tide as a result becoming the biggest winner over that three-day span. Those three commitments came from the five-star duo of James Smith and Qua Russaw out of Carver-Montgomery High School in Alabama, as well as Desmond Ricks out of IMG Academy in Florida, all three of which are among the top players at their position nationally.

As for the sixth commitment, the Crimson Tide also added a player to their 2024 class in Sterling Dixon, a four-star linebacker out of in-state Mobile Christian School.
