Arguably the biggest game in SEC basketball this weekend comes in Tuscaloosa, as Alabama is set to host Kentucky inside Coleman Coliseum on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats won both games between the two a year ago, which included a 66-55 victory in Tuscaloosa, as well as a 90-81 win in Lexington.

Alabama enters Saturday ranked as the No. 7 team in the country according to the latest AP Poll, owning a 12-2 overall record, as well as a 2-0 mark in SEC play. The Crimson Tide’s lone losses this season have come on a neutral court to both UConn and Gonzaga, with some of Alabama’s biggest wins having come against teams such as Houston, North Carolina, Michigan State, and Memphis.

Ranking No. 15 nationally with an average of 83.3 PPG, Alabama is also a Top 20 team nationally in both offensive and defensive efficiency according to KenPom, and are led by one of the nation’s top freshmen in Brandon Miller who averages 19.1 PPG and 8.6 RPG on 44.1 3P%. Alabama is also the nation’s No. 1 rebounding team at a combined 46.5 RPG, and have multiple other prominent scorers such as Mark Sears, Noah Clowney, Jaden Bradley, Jahvon Quinerly, and Noah Gurley.

Kentucky comes into Saturday with a 10-4 overall record, as well as a 1-1 mark in SEC play, with the loss coming at Missouri back on December 28. The Wildcats have won three of their last four games over Florida A&M, Louisville, and LSU, with Kentucky’s lone losses this season having come against Michigan State, Gonzaga, UCLA, and the previously mentioned Missouri matchup.

The Wildcats are currently averaging 78.6 PPG while allowing 66.5 PPG to opponents, and are led by Oscar Tshiebwe, the defending National Player of the Year who is averaging 16.8 PPG and 13.8 RPG. Kentucky also has three other double-digit scorers in the trio of Cason Wallace, Jacob Toppin, and Antonio Reeves, while Sahvir Wheeler, CJ Fredrick, and Chris Livingston are also names to know.

Alabama vs Kentucky SEC Basketball Prediction

Two teams who have split the last four meetings between the two, this matchup has the potential to honestly go either way. However, I’ll say that Alabama comes away with a close victory on their homecourt, which could play an advantage at times. Prediction: Alabama 75, Kentucky 70
