Texas A&M hiring Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator
According to ESPN’s Chris Low, Texas A&M is finalizing a deal with former Missouri State head coach Bobby Petrino to become the new offensive coordinator at Texas A&M. Petrino, who had previously accepted the OC job at UNLV, returns to the SEC for the first time since 2011 where he was the head coach at Arkansas from 2008-11, leading the Razorbacks to a combined 34-17 record.
LSU punter Jay Bramblett to return for 2023 season
LSU’s Jay Bramblett will return for the 2023 season next fall, giving the Tigers one of the SEC’s top punters once again. After transferring from Notre Dame last offseason, Bramblett ranked No. 5 in the SEC this season with an average of 44.5 yards per punt.
Brandon Miller and Oscar Tshiebwe named to 2022-23 Midseason Wooden Award Watch List
Released Wednesday, there were two players from the SEC selected to the 2022-23 Midseason Wooden Award Watch List – Alabama’s Brandon Miller and Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe. Miller has been one of the nation’s top freshmen averaging 19.1 PPG and 8.6 RPG on 44.1 3P%, while Tshiebwe, the 2021-22 Wooden Award winner, is averaging 16.8 PPG and 13.8 RPG on 61.1 FG%.
Former five-star Jordan Burch enters transfer portal
South Carolina junior defensive lineman Jordan Burch, who is a former five-star recruit, entered the transfer portal on Thursday after three seasons with the Gamecocks. Burch is coming off a career-year with the Gamecocks, posting 60 tackles, 7.5 TFL, and 3.5 sacks across 13 games.
Former Alabama running back Trey Sanders commits to TCU
Trey Sanders, who is also a former five-star recruit, announced that he would be transferring from Alabama to TCU on Thursday afternoon. This past season at Alabama, Sanders rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on 14 attempts.
