Part of an absolutely loaded freshman class for LSU baseball, left-handed pitcher Nic Bronzini is yet another new name to watch for that could make an impact this season in Baton Rouge. As for what role that could potentially come in, here is a 2023 season preview for Bronzini.

LSU Baseball 2023 Season Preview: LHP Nic Bronzini

A 6-foot-3 left-handed pitcher, Bronzini comes to LSU out of California High School in California, where he was one of the state’s top pitchers a year ago. As a senior with the Grizzlies, Bronzini would own a 9-3 record with a 1.51 ERA on the mound, along with a 133:26 K:BB ratio across 74.1 IP.

A two-way player, Bronzini also slashed .230/.304/.327 as a senior with 14 RBI, and concluded his high school career from 2019-22 with a combined 18-8 record, as well as a 1.88 ERA and 272:70 K:BB ratio across 163.2 IP on the mound.

According to Perfect Game, Bronzini was also rated as the No. 153 overall player nationally in the 2022 class, as well as the No. 19 left-handed pitcher in the nation. Bronzini was also considered as the No. 19 player in the state of California, as well as the No. 2 left-handed pitcher in the state a year ago.

As for what his freshman season with LSU baseball could include, Bronzini is yet another name to watch for from a deep Tigers pitching staff, one that is among the most talented in the SEC. Based on the amount of talent that the Tigers have as well, it’s possible that Bronzini begins the year as a piece of LSU’s bullpen, one that could potentially throw multiple innings.

While the amount of action freshmen in the SEC see in their first year is potentially unknown entering the season, it still feels likely that Bronzini is a name to know this spring. Simply put, don’t be surprised if the left-hander ends up being a key piece for the Tigers in 2023.

2023 Season Prediction: 2-1, 4.10 ERA, 15 BB, 35 K
