SEC basketball play is now officially a few weeks in for all 14 of the conference’s teams, meaning that our 2022-23 power rankings receive yet another update because of it. So, here are our latest power rankings for the 2022-23 SEC basketball season, which features a new No. 1 team sitting atop the list. (NOTE: Records as of Saturday, January 14)

Alabama, Texas A&M rise in latest 2022-23 SEC basketball power rankings

14. Ole Miss Rebels

Previous Ranking: 10

Beginning here at the No. 14 spot is Ole Miss, as the Rebels were one of the most notable teams to drop this week coming off a slow start to conference play. Sitting at 8-9 overall (0-5 in SEC), the Rebels enter the week on a six-game losing streak dating back to December 20, with those losses having come against North Alabama, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi State, Auburn, and Georgia.

Looking to get back in the win column, Ole Miss will travel this week for a pair of road games, the first of which comes Tuesday night at South Carolina. The Rebels will then travel to Fayetteville on Saturday to face Arkansas.

13. South Carolina Gamecocks

Previous Ranking: 14

As for previous No. 14 South Carolina, the Gamecocks rise a spot to No. 13, even despite their rough start to SEC basketball play. Now sitting at 8-9 overall (1-3 in SEC), South Carolina owns a 2-3 record since Christmas that did include wins against Eastern Michigan, as well as at Kentucky, 71-68, along with losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

South Carolina will remain at home this week for a pair of matchups, the first of which comes on Tuesday night against Ole Miss. Following for the Gamecocks will be a Saturday showdown with Auburn.
