5 SEC players in Top 10 of Mel Kiper Jr.’s 2023 NFL Mock Draft 1.0
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. released his 2023 NFL Mock Draft 1.0 on Wednesday morning, which had five SEC players listed in the Top 10, headlined by Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter at No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears. The four other SEC players in the Top 10 were Alabama outside linebacker Will Anderson Jr. (No. 3 to Arizona Cardinals), Alabama quarterback Bryce Young (No. 4 to Indianapolis Colts), Kentucky quarterback Will Levis (No. 5 to Seattle Seahawks), and Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson (No. 9 to Carolina Panthers).
Kentucky OT Kiyaunta Goodwin transfers to Florida
Florida and head coach Billy Napier landed a big commitment via the transfer portal Wednesday in Kiyaunta Goodwin, who joins the Gators from within the conference at Kentucky. Goodwin, an offensive tackle, was a former highly-rated four-star prospect from the 2022 class out of Charlestown High School in Indiana, and primarily played a reserve role for the Wildcats this past season.
Ole Miss S Tysheem Johnson transfers to Oregon
After two seasons in Oxford, Ole Miss safety Tysheem Johnson, who is a former four-star prospect from the 2021 class, has transferred to Oregon. Across 13 games this past season with the Rebels, Johnson compiled 78 tackles, four TFL, and two PD.
4 SEC teams in Top 10 for 4-star EDGE Jacob Smith, DL Jerod Smith
Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, and Ole Miss were the four SEC teams listed in the Top 10 for both Jacob and Jerod Smith on Wednesday, joining other out-of-conference schools such as Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Texas. Both are listed as four-star prospects in the 2024 class out of The Loomis Chaffee School in Connecticut.
