Oklahoma Stuns Alabama 93-69 in SEC/Big 12 Challenge
The Crimson Tide have been the story of the season in the SEC this year, with an impressive 8-0 start in conference play. However, things were different today in Norman.
The Sooners used their home crowd’s contagious high energy as fuel to jump out to an early lead. Points in the paint, unselfish ball movement, and 18 points from point guard Grant Sherfield headlined a first half that saw very little defense and a staggering 50 points for Oklahoma.
Alabama was able to score the ball, although not consistently. Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser would not allow Freshman phenom Brandon Miller to beat them. The star struggled to find a rhythm and was a non-factor, only registering 11 points the whole afternoon. The Sooners forced the Crimson Tide’s role players into difficult situations and tough shots the entire game. They never settled in.
Grant Sherfield and Jalen Hill stole the show. The duo combined for 56 points on 6/7 shooting from beyond the arc. They made a total of 20 shots and added eight assists. Their composure and physicality never gave Alabama a chance to get the game back to single digits. This was truly a dream performance for Sooner fans.
Back to Conference Play
After passing the test against the Tide, Oklahoma will host interstate rival Oklahoma State in Norman on Wednesday night. They will look for revenge against a Cowboys team that beat them by 16 points just two weeks ago. Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide aim to get back on track against the Vanderbilt Commodores at home on Tuesday evening.
