SEC News: Foster to join USFL, South Carolina adds two commits

SEC fans, here are some of the biggest stories from across the conference on Thursday and Friday, which includes a few notable commitments for two SEC East teams, as well as a former Alabama standout linebacker signing with a team at the professional level.

3-star OT Hayes Johnson commits to Kentucky

The Kentucky Wildcats landed a commitment Thursday from Hayes Johnson, who is one of the state’s top players in the 2024 class. Johnson is rated as a three-star offensive tackle out of in-state Taylor County High School.

3-star WR Elijah Caldwell commits to South Carolina

South Carolina landed a commitment to their 2023 class Thursday in Elijah Caldwell, who is an in-state prospect out of Northwestern High School. Caldwell, a wide receiver, is rated as a three-star prospect.

Former Alabama LB Reuben Foster signs with USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, former Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster has signed with the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL. Foster, a former first round pick from the 2017 NFL Draft, last appeared in an NFL game during the 2018 season, and had a combined 223 tackles, 24 TFL, and seven sacks during his Alabama career from 2013-16.

4-star LB Wendell Gregory commits to South Carolina

South Carolina and head coach Shane Beamer landed a key piece to their 2024 class Friday in Wendell Gregory. Gregory is rated as a four-star linebacker out of Walton High School in Georgia.
