LSU Baseball: Looking back at the Tigers career of Tyler Moore

An impact player across multiple seasons while in Baton Rouge, here is a look back at the LSU baseball career of Tyler Moore.

Looking back at the LSU baseball career of Tyler Moore

A former local product out of Dunham High School in Baton Rouge, Moore originally came to LSU in the Tigers 2011 class, coming off a phenomenal senior season at the prep level in which he hit for a .574 AVG with 15 HR.

An instant-impact player in Baton Rouge, Moore would go on to appear in 47 games for the Tigers as a freshman, slashing .263/.329/.444 with four HR and 27 RBI. Of those 47 games, Moore would draw the start in 31 for the Tigers, a majority of which came at first base, while also seeing time at catcher and DH.

As a sophomore in 2013, Moore would go on to slash .281/.352/.396 across 48 games, along with adding 12 RBI. That season, Moore would start in 20 of those 48 games for an LSU team that would reach the College World Series, with those starts coming at different positions that included DH, first base, third base, and catcher.

Moore would once again post a solid season in 2014 as a junior, a season in which he slashed .301/.381/.484 with six HR and 37 RBI across 53 games, 43 of which were starts. Moore’s junior season would also include 2014 SEC Tournament MVP honors, with the Baton Rouge native also being selected in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the New York Mets, bringing an end to his LSU baseball career in which he slashed .283/.356/.427 across 148 games with the Tigers, along with 10 HR and 76 RBI.

Moore would go on to play only five seasons professionally in the minor leagues of the Mets organization from 2014-18, a span in which he slashed a combined .204/.283/.279 across 243 career games. Moore would last play professionally in Independent Ball during the 2019 season with the Lincoln Saltdogs.
