Auburn vs Alabama: Line, Prediction, TV Channel & Live Stream for SEC Basketball
By Matt Melton
An SEC basketball rivalry showdown, Alabama is set to travel to Auburn on Saturday afternoon for a matchup with the Tigers inside Neville Arena, a place where the Crimson Tide have struggled in recent years. A head-to-head series that is split 3-3 each dating back to the 2019-20 season, the Tigers have however won six of the last seven games inside Neville Arena since 2015-16, with Alabama’s lone win during that stretch coming in 2020-21, the same season the Crimson Tide won the SEC.
As for this season’s matchup, Auburn comes into Saturday owning a 17-7 overall record for the year, as well as a 7-4 mark in SEC play. Led by head coach Bruce Pearl, the Tigers are however currently in their roughest stretch of the season having lost four of their last five games, as well as their last two at both Tennessee and Texas A&M.
The nation’s No. 7 shot blocking team at 5.7 BPG, the Tigers come into this game averaging 72.3 PPG offensively, and are led by the duo of Wendell Green Jr. and Johni Broome, each of which are currently averaging 13.9 and 13.7 PPG, respectively. Auburn is also allowing a total of 64.6 PPG to opponents, and have one other player averaging in double-figures in Jaylin Williams, while Allen Flanigan and K.D. Johnson are also prominent scorers for the Tigers.
As for Alabama, the Crimson Tide come to Neville Arena ranked as the No. 3 team in the country according to the latest AP Poll, owning a 21-3 overall record, as well as sitting atop the SEC at an undefeated 11-0 in conference play. Alabama, led by head coach Nate Oats, is also currently on a three-game winning streak, one that includes’ victories over the likes of Vanderbilt, LSU, and Florida.
The Crimson Tide currently rank No. 7 nationally with an average of 83.7 PPG, while also allowing 68.7 PPG, and are led by the arguable frontrunner for the SEC Player of the Year, Brandon Miller, at 19 PPG and 8.3 RPG on a 44.4 3P%. Alabama is also the nation’s No. 1 rebounding team at 44.9 per game, and have two others averaging in double-figures in Mark Sears and Noah Clowney, with others such as Jaden Bradley, Jahvon Quinerly, Nimari Burnett, Rylan Griffen, and Charles Bediako also among names to know.
Auburn vs Alabama SEC Basketball Prediction
As mentioned above, Auburn has owned this matchup in recent years inside Neville Arena, and could very easily pickup another win over the Crimson Tide on Saturday. However, I’ll say that Alabama wins a close game over the Tigers, with the Crimson Tide pulling away with some big baskets down the stretch. Prediction: Auburn 77, Alabama 83
