The Volunteers were oh so close. It seemed like it was all sealed with four seconds left. Then as Guard Santiago Vescovi was attempting his second free throw, an offensive foul was committed by Forward Tobe Awaka, granting Missouri the ball, down 85-83 with four seconds left.
In stunning fashion, for the second straight game, Tennessee lost in heartbreak, at the buzzer.
Missouri Guard DeAndre Ghoston hit an incredible game winning 3-pt FG from near 30-feet out, quieting the sold out crowd of 21,000 plus, as the time expired to thwart a late Tennessee comeback, 86-85. The gutsy road win improved the Tigers to 19-6, and dropped the Volunteers to 19-6.

What this means for Tennessee?
This game was a bit of an enigma for Tennessee. On one hand, they found the high scoring octane offense they’ve been missing for the past few games, scoring 83 points. On the other, their top ranked defense surrendered 85 points, while losing their 2nd in a row, and third in the last fourth. This one was a must-win game for Tennessee, who just dropped a game to a Vanderbilt squad, just over .500. They’ll no doubt drop out of the top 10, and, they’ll have to get in the right mindset quick if they want to turn things around, as they’ll be playing an extremely talented team in Alabama this week.
What this means for Missouri?
For one, winning a game like this on the road is a huge confidence booster. Coming into this game, Missouri had been 2-4 on the road, and held a 6-5 conference record. Though this one wasn’t easy, Missouri has now won five of their last six, and will most likely enter the Top 25 again. They’ll take on Auburn on the road this week, where they will look to improve their winning streak to three games, and ride the momentum.
