Thus far, February has seen some impressive play from former SEC basketball players. Below, I will list those who’ve been on a tear recently, and, caught my eye.

Top SEC Basketball players in the NBA in February

1. PG, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kentucky, Oklahoma City Thunder

Perhaps one of the best young talents in the NBA, Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has had a great month of February. The former Kentucky star has averaged 32 PPG this month, on over 50% FG, while scoring over 40 points on two different occasions.

2. PG, De’Aaron Fox, Kentucky, Sacramento Kings

Another Kentucky star that’s gotten off to a hot start in February is De’Aaron Fox. Fox and the Kings are 3rd in the western conference right now, and in the month of February, Fox has averaged 29.4 PPG, scoring 30 or more in four of his last five. Furthermore, his team has also won four out of their last five.

3. PG, Darius Garland, Vanderbilt, Cleveland Cavailers

The former Vanderbilt player has been having one heck of a season thus far. So far this month, Garland and his team have won all five of their games, while he has averaged 21.8 PPG on 56.7% FG shooting, shooting 60% from beyond the arc.

4. PF, Julius Randle, Kentucky, New York Knicks

The former Kentucky forward has been on a roll thus far. In February he has averaged 26.3 PPG and 10 Rebounds Per Game.

Randle and the Knicks have won four of their last six. He currently has consecutive games with 30 or more points, his fourth time he has done that this season.

5. PG, Anthony Edwards, Georgia, Minnesota Timberwolves

Ant-man, as they call him, not only produced an incredible season at Georgia, but has been one of the upcoming stars since his arrival in the NBA. It’s shown in February.

So far in February, Edwards has averaged 22.2 PPG on 44% FG.

Keep your eye out

As the season continues to unfold and get into the latter stages, look out for these guys, who will no doubt have a huge impact on their teams for not just this season, but years to come as well.
