Missouri vs Texas A&M: 2022-23 SEC basketball game preview, prediction
Missouri
After a thrilling win at Tennessee, Missouri followed it up with arguably its worst performance of the season as the offense simply couldn’t get going, hitting zero threes in the first half. They wound up getting badly beat by 33 points on the road to Auburn.
That was on the road, though.
Missouri tends to be a different squad at home. Winners of 8 out of their last 9 home games, Missouri possesses one of the most efficient offenses in college basketball in terms of points scored.
Then, there’s the defense. One thing that has been clear all season is that they struggle defensively, yielding the most PPG in the SEC. They’ve given up at least 74 points in four out of their last five.
They also own just a 7-6 record at home in SEC games.
On the other side, well, Texas A&M is one of the hottest teams in College Basketball.
Texas A&M
The Texas A&M Aggies enter this showdown as winners of 13 of their last 15, and an 11-2 record in conference play. Led by guard Wade Taylor IV, who averages 15.3. PPG, the Aggies score 74.7 PPG, while yielding just 66.1 PPG. They’ve been dominant recently, with a win against then ranked #15 Auburn, and an 18 point home win just last month against Missouri. They’ve come out victorious in hostile environments such as Florida and LSU, and are 4-2 on the road against SEC basketball opponents.
So, who has the edge?
As of late, Texas A&M has played some impressive ball. Winning 13 of 15 speaks for itself. This will be a high scoring affair, and I expect the Aggies to take advantage of Missouri’s defensive struggles and ultimately come away with the W, midway through the second half. A well balanced team with an impressive resume in SEC games is not going to be stopped just yet.
Prediction:
