Texas A&M vs Tennessee: 2022-23 SEC basketball game preview, prediction
Texas A&M
Texas A&M enters as winners of 14 of their last 16, and 7 of their last 8. They have been dominant as of recent and just held a high scoring Missouri team to 60 points, while playing on the road. In in-conference home games, the Aggies sport a perfect 7-0 record, and are 13-1 at home overall. Their season resume in SEC games speaks for itself, as only Alabama has a better record. Texas A&M will enter this game as arguably the hottest team in the SEC as both Alabama and Tennessee have had losses recently.
Led by guard Wade Taylor IV, this team is complete all around and efficient in closing out games.
Tennessee
A little less than a month ago Tennessee beat Texas in the SEC/Big12 Challenge to improve to 18-3. You could argue the Volunteers were one of the best teams in college basketball then, supported by their Top 25 ranking, coming in at 4. Since that win, Tennessee has been struggling tremendously. Now, some of that is due to unlucky buzzer-beaters, nonetheless, Tennessee has lost 4 out of their last 6, and 3 straight on the road to SEC opponents.
Coming off a loss to Kentucky, Tennessee will be hungry to get back on the winning end, and grab an important Quad 1 win.
Who has the edge?
At the moment, Texas A&M is playing its best basketball of the season, and being at home really helps them out. Even though Tennessee just grabbed a huge win at home against Alabama, they’ve struggled on the road all season, and a rowdy crowd, such as College Station can definitely impact this game. If the Tennessee of late comes out, I don’t see them winning. To get by the Aggies, the Vols would have to play a complete game. They haven’t done that recently and I don’t see that changing. I’m taking Aggies by 11.
Prediction:
