Girodo originally came to Mississippi State as a member of the Bulldogs 2009 recruiting class out of Hartselle High School in Alabama, coming off a memorable high school career.
Once in Starkville, Girodo would go on to make a total of 19 appearances as a freshman with the Bulldogs, with only four being as a starter. Across 48.2 IP that season, Girodo would own a 2-3 record with a 7.40 ERA, while also striking out 28 batters.
The left-hander would go on to become a key reliever as a sophomore in 2011 as well, making 17 total appearances, all but one of which was in relief. Across those 29.2 IP, Girodo would hold a 3-0 record and 5.76 ERA on the mound, as well as 29 strikeouts.
Girodo would however go on to make on 7.2 IP during the 2012 season as a junior, owning a 5.87 ERA during that span. What would follow however would be a career-year in 2013 as a senior, one in which Girodo was one of Mississippi State’s top players.
As a senior, Girodo would make a team-high 36 appearances out of the bullpen for a Mississippi State team that would reach the College World Series championship series, posting a 9-1 record with a 1.36 ERA and 82:19 K:BB ratio across 59.2 IP. The left-hander would also be selected in the ninth round of the 2013 MLB Draft at seasons end as well, taken by the Toronto Blue Jays.
For his time with Mississippi State baseball overall, Girodo would appear in 83 career games for the Bulldogs, pitching 145.2 total innings. Across that span, Girodo would hold a career 14-5 record with a 4.51 ERA and 145:47 K:BB ratio.
Girodo would go on to play a combined six seasons professionally in the minor leagues with the Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers, last coming in 2018. Girodo would also have 10.1 IP in the major leagues with the Blue Jays during the 2016 season, posting a 4.35 ERA.
