One of SEC basketball’s top games Tuesday night comes in Knoxville as Tennessee hosts Arkansas inside Thompson-Boling Arena. The Volunteers and Razorbacks split both meetings between the two a year ago, with both home teams claiming the win in each.

Beginning with a look at Tennessee, the Volunteers enter Tuesday ranked as the No. 12 team in the country according to the latest AP Poll, owning a 21-8 overall record, as well as a 10-6 mark in SEC play. The Volunteers are currently sitting at fourth in the conference standings, and are also coming off one of their most impressive wins of the year, beating South Carolina 85-45 at home.

The Volunteers are the nation’s No. 1 team in defensive efficiency according to kenpom, as well as ranking third fewest nationally with an average of 56.7 PPG allowed. Offensively, the Volunteers are averaging 71.8 PPG, and have six total players averaging 8+ PPG in Santiago Vescovi, Zakai Zeigler, Olivier Nkamhoua, Josiah-Jordan James, Julian Phillips, and Tyreke Key.

As for Arkansas, the Razorbacks enter Tuesday with a 19-10 overall record this season, while also sitting eighth in the SEC at 8-8 in conference play. The Razorbacks are coming off a loss Saturday, falling at Alabama by a final score of 86-83.

The Razorbacks are currently averaging 75.3 PPG offensively this season, while also allowing 66.2 PPG to opponents. Arkansas has four total players averaging in double-figures in Ricky Council IV, Nick Smith Jr., Anthony Black, and Davonte Davis, while Jordan Walsh and Makhi Mitchell are also both averaging at-least 7+ PPG.

Tennessee vs Arkansas SEC Basketball Prediction

A matchup between two of SEC basketball’s better teams, this could very well end up being a toss up between the Volunteers and Razorbacks on Tuesday night. However, with this matchup being played in Knoxville, I’ll say that Tennessee comes away with a close win at home. Prediction: Tennessee 75, Arkansas 72
