Auburn, Florida among SEC Basketball February recruiting winners

Auburn Tigers

February Commits:

  • 5-star PG Tahaad Pettiford
  • 4-star PG Labaron Philon

Beginning with Auburn, the Tigers might’ve just been the biggest recruiting winner, not just in the SEC, but in all of college basketball as well, during February, landing two commitments early in the month from a pair of guards in Tahaad Pettiford and Labaron Philon.

The highest-rated of those two is Pettiford, a five-star point guard out of Hudson Catholic in New Jersey. Pettiford is the highest-rated prospect in Auburn’s No. 3 ranked 2024 class nationally, and is also squarely in the conversation for the No. 1 point guard in the entire class.

Philon is considered as the top player in the state of Alabama in the 2024 class, rated as a four-star point guard out of in-state Baker High School. Philon is also one of the most talented scoring guards in the entire 2024 class, having averaged a total of 35 PPG this past season in Alabama’s highest classification as a junior.

Florida Gators

February Commits:

  • C Alex Condon

As for Florida, the Gators and head coach Todd Golden landed the second total commitment of their 2023 recruiting class during February, one that ranks No. 14 in SEC basketball.

Similar to Auburn, that commitment would come early in the month as well from Alex Condon, who is a 6-foot-10 center out of NBA Global Academy in Australia. Condon is currently unranked according to 247Sports.
