SEC Basketball: Look out for Alabama and Texas A&M in 2023 SEC Tournament
The stage is finally set for the 2023 SEC Tournament. It’ll all get underway this Wednesday. Today, I am going to give you my preview of arguably the two teams that have the best chance of winning – Alabama and Texas A&M.
Look out for Alabama and Texas A&M in the 2023 SEC Tournament
Texas A&M
The Aggies have been phenomenal down the stretch winning 7 out of their last 8, including Saturday’s most recent win against #2 Alabama.
This team is battle tested with close wins against both Tennessee and Alabama.
They are undefeated when playing Top 25 teams this year.
With their recent play, and Alabama’s struggles over the past few games, in my eyes, I see them as the team that has the best chance of winning.
Their hardest path just to get to the SEC Championship game would likely include beating both Auburn and Kentucky.
The latter they faced once this season, and lost, but Auburn, they have beat twice.
They are more than capable of beating both at the moment, and I expect their level of play to stay the same.
Wade Taylor IV is more than capable of taking these guys to the championship.
Alabama
Alabama has struggled the past few games. While they’ve gone 3-1 in their last 4, they barely edged out South Carolina in an overtime game, with a spread of -17 Alabama.
As such, in the last 4 they have a scoring differential of just +4.
While they haven’t been shooting the ball well from beyond the arc recently, all teams go through slumps, and I expect Alabama to recover from Saturday’s loss at College Station.
Their path at making sure they remain a #1 seed coming into Selection Sunday would include taking on Florida or Mississippi State, and then, the winner of either Tennessee or Missouri.
Tennessee in the semi-finals would be a tough game for the Crimson Tide, but I think they can get by.
It wouldn’t be a shock if these guys were playing for the conference championship title next weekend.
