Georgia vs LSU: Line, Prediction, TV Channel & Live Stream for 2023 SEC Tournament
By Matt Melton
The second of two first round matchups in the 2023 SEC Tournament happens Wednesday night as Georgia and LSU meet for the second time this season. As for that first meeting, the Bulldogs previously defeated the Tigers back on February 14 in Athens, 65-63.
Led by head coach Mike White, Georgia comes to Nashville as the No. 11 seed in the 2023 SEC Tournament, holding a 16-15 overall record, as well as a 6-12 mark in SEC play. The Bulldogs have however struggled in recent weeks by losing their last five games, and will have to win the SEC Tournament this week in order to make the NCAA Tournament.
One of the SEC’s top teams at getting to the free throw line by averaging 22.4 attempts per game, Georgia is currently averaging 68.6 PPG offensively, and have two double-digit scorers in guards Terry Roberts and Kario Oquendo. Braelen Bridges is the top post player for a Bulldogs team that is allowing 71.5 PPG to opponents, while others such as Justin Hill, Jabri Abdur-Rahim, Matthew Alexander-Moncrieffe, and Mardrez McBride are all among key players for Georgia.
Led by head coach Matt McMahon, LSU is the No. 14 seed in the 2023 SEC Tournament, owning a 13-18 overall record, as well as a 2-16 mark in SEC play. The Tigers have also struggled in recent weeks by losing their last three games, and will also have to win the SEC Tournament in order to make the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers are currently averaging 67.5 PPG, while also allowing 70.6 PPG on defense, and are led by one of the SEC’s top forwards in KJ Williams, who is averaging 17.4 PPG and 7.6 RPG. LSU also has one other double-digit scorer in Adam Miller, while others such as Derek Fountain, Cam Hayes, Trae Hannibal, and Justice Hill are all averaging at-least 5+ PPG.
Georgia vs LSU 2023 SEC Tournament Prediction
Similar to their previous matchup earlier this season, this meeting between Georgia and LSU has the potential to be close once again. As to who wins, I’ll say that Georgia moves on, in part due to a big game from their guards such as Roberts and Oquendo. Prediction: Georgia 71, LSU 65
